Doctor Who 9th E-Book to Be Penned by Charlie Higson

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of BBC's hit show "Doctor Who," several events have been planned, including the release of 10 e-books as tribute to the show. It has just been announced that actor, comedian and author Charlie Higson will be penning the next "Doctor Who" e-book.

Higson is a fan of the show and couldn't be more pleased with being chosen to create the next short story in the 50th anniversary celebration collection.

"I grew up with Doctor Who and have always been a massive fan so it's a great honour to be involved," he told BBC.

But it isn't just the "Doctor Who" of his childhood that Higson was enamored with, he is also a fan of the re-launch of the show.

"Russell T. Davies did a great job of rebooting the series with Christopher Eccleston, so to be able to write the ninth Doctor story was a great opportunity to say thanks to the Doctor and thanks to Russell," Higson said.

Higson's short story will tell the story of the ninth doctor. The publishing company Puffin released a synopsis of the story.

"When a girl called Ali pockets a silver orb that falls from the sky, little does she realise it's her ticket to seeing the universe! Desperate to retrieve the mysterious object, the Ninth Doctor agrees to let her join him on a dangerous trip to ancient Babylon. Together they must join forces to stop a giant Starman from destroying Earth before it's too late," the synopsis reads.

Higson's "Doctor Who" e-book will be available on Sept 23.
