"Doctor Who" Season 10 Release Date, Plot News: BBC Drops New Trailer With First Glimpse of Pearl Mackie

Following the announcement that "Doctor Who" season 10 will be Steven Moffat's last and that Peter Capaldi will leave the show at the end of this year, the new trailer for the upcoming series only goes to show that they won't say goodbye to "Doctor Who" fans without a great send-off.

BBC America unveiled the new trailer, featuring the Doctor's (Capaldi) new companion, Bill Potts (Peark Mackie). Titled "A Time for Heroes," the clip shows the Doctor and Nardole (Matt Lucas) walking dramatically through a library, with lights setting off around them. Eventually, they come across a wall of disguised faces.

Fans speculate that the faces are those of the new villains from the upcoming season, with some of them posting on Twitter their thoughts about their identities. One Twitter user named Alex Moreland said he spotted the obscured faces of Daleks, Cyberman and Ice Warrior in the clip.

The trailer also offers a first glimpse of Mackie as the new companion Potts. In the clip, the character offers some narrations as she describes what is in store for the Doctor.

"The first time you meet him, he's funny. The second time, he's amazing. The third time, you realize he's the most dangerous man in the universe. He says he's a man of peace, but he walks in war. I'm having the time of my life, and I wouldn't miss it for the world, even if it kills me," she says in the clip.

Since it was previously reported that Mackie only has a one-year contract with the show and that the 11th season will represent a clean slate for the show, it is possible that the new companion may die by the end of season 10. In the upcoming season, Mackie will replace Jenna Coleman, who portrayed the Doctor's previous companion, Clara Oswald.

"Doctor Who" season 10 premieres on Saturday, April 15, at 9 p.m. EST on BBC America.
