Domestic Abuse Mother Snatches 8 Children From Foster Care in New York

Police are looking for a mother who allegedly snatched her eight children from foster care on Monday.

Mother Shanel Nadal, 28, and possibly the children’s father Nephra Payne are said to be involved with the abduction from the Forestdale Child Agency in Forest Hills, Queens, New York.

The children, aged between 11 months to 11-years-old, were taken into a black vehicle, possibly a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban, during the mother’s visit.

The children, seven boys and one girl, were previously taken away from their mother due to domestic abuse and were split up among three different foster parents.

The police identified the children as Nephra Payne, 11; Nephra Ceo Payne, 10; Nephra Shalee Payne, 6; Nephra Umeek Payne, 5; Nephra Yahmen Payne, 4; Nephra John Payne, 9; and Nephra Rahsul Payne, 6.

The girl, Nefertiti Payne, is 11 months old.

“Everybody is shocked, nobody expected this,” said one of the children’s foster parents. Police have searched Nada’s house but nothing has been found to help the investigation.

“These kids were taken away from their parents for domestic abuse,” Corey King, brother of one of the foster carers, told the New York Daily News. “We are worried for their safety. We are afraid they might get hurt. They came to us with emotional scars, but they are good kids. They just need a good home. They are used to us now.”

New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services is working with the New York Police Department.
