Donald Trump 2016 Presidential Elections News: Illegal immigrants 'have to go'

Donald Trump has revealed his immigration platform on Sunday and said undocumented immigrants in the United States "have to go."

In an interview with Chuck Todd of NBC News' Meet the Press, Donald Trump laid out his immigration plan, which has once again stirred controversy among the public. Trump, who is the present leading 2016 Republican presidential candidate in recent polls, told Todd that the United States has to revamp its immigration standards, according to The Guardian.

While sitting on his plane in Des Moines, Iowa, Trump was asked if he was going to "split up" families of illegal immigrants and deport their kids.

"Chuck, no, no," Trump answered Todd. "We're going to keep the families together. We have to keep the families together, but they have to go."

The controversial Republican candidate said he will rescind U.S. President Barack Obama's executive order favoring illegal immigrants. Along with this, he vowed to put a stop to birthright citizenship, Yahoo! News reports.

Without revealing further details, Trump said he will "work with" the deported immigrants and promised that people will thank him after four years for what he will do.

Trump previously made headlines when he released inflammatory comments on Mexican immigrants, calling them "criminals" and "rapists," the report relays.

On Saturday, NBC released a document that contains Trump's detailed plan for immigration reform. The document, which is titled "Immigration reforms that will make America great again," mentioned Trump's promise to prioritize American workers. It also called for Mexico to pay for the costs of a border wall because "Mexico has taken the United States to the cleaners."

In addition to his controversial stand on the immigration issue, Trump has also incited widespread condemnation after he mocked Arizona Senator John McCain's status as a prisoner of war. The billionaire was also banned from the conservative RedState Gathering in Atlanta after his "bloody" comments on Fox News anchor Megan Kelly.

Even after messing up several commercial deals because of his controversial statement, he remains firm in his immigration plan and his intention to run in the 2016 presidential elections.
