Donald Trump Immigration Ban News: Uber, Airbnb, Lyft Condemn New Ban

The tech industry, especially the Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, are up in arms again over President Donald Trump's revised executive order that institutes a 90-day suspension for travelers from six Muslim-majority countries. Uber, Airbnb and Lyft were among the first to publish statements criticizing the new travel ban.

The Hill has the coverage on the statement from ride-sharing company Uber, in which a spokesperson released a statement on behalf of the company. "Our sentiment has not changed: President Trump's immigration ban is unjust and wrong," the Uber representative maintained, referring to the company's stance on the travel ban issued a month ago.

Airbnb co-founder and chief executive officer Brian Chesky took to Twitter and released a quick statement. Referring to the first travel ban issues this year, Chesky called out President Trump's executive order as a mistake, and no different as the last one.

Lyft CEO Logan Green put in his piece later on the same day, Monday. His statement also mentioned that he's working with co-founder John Zimmer and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in planning efforts to counteract the new travel ban.

"Lyft stands firmly against this order," Green said in his statement. "We will continue to speak out and take action when the values of our community are put at risk. John and I are meeting with the Executive Director of the ACLU on Wednesday to discuss how we can further support their efforts," Logan Green added, according to The Hill.

Mozilla also issued a longer statement through their official blog last Monday. According to the internet company, the new order "fundamentally fail to address the issues we had with the previous order," according to chief legal officer Denelle Dixon-Thayer.

Meanwhile, Apple, Microsoft, Google and Facebook have not yet responded with any statements of their own as of this time.
