Donor, Church Give Super Bowl Tickets to Widowed Seahawks Fan: 'My Faith in God Can Keep Me Strong' (VIDEO)
Last week, we saw the video that Nick and Alyssa Magnotti filmed for their baby girl Austyn before Nick died from appendix cancer on January 7. In the poignant message, Nick told Austyn of his love for God and for others so that "she will have the same heart."
In light of her devastating loss, Alyssa maintains an outlook of hope fueled by her trust in God.
"I want people to know that my positive attitude can outlast this," she told KOMO. "And that my faith in God can keep me strong through even hard challenges."
While Nick's work here is done, the faith he and Alyssa shared continues to inspire. Overlake Church received two tickets to the Super Bowl in New York from an anonymous donor with the instruction to give them to someone deserving. When the church heard Alyssa's story, they gave her the tickets to the game – a matchup between the Denver Broncos and Nick's beloved Seattle Seahawks – along with free airfare and lodging.
Alyssa will take a close friend to this Sunday's game to cheer for the Seahawks, though she knows Nick is cheering for her above.
"I wish I could have seen him jump and shout when he found out I was going to the Super Bowl," she wrote on her blog.
In the face of heartache, she remains guided by her faith, and is leading others to the same assurance.
"God never said this life would be easy. Being a 'Christian' or following Jesus will not make you or your life perfect. You WILL struggle. You WILL be challenged. You WILL face obstacles that will seem too difficult to overcome," she wrote. "But, God is there."
