'DOOM' News: Nintendo Switch Variant Will Be Running at 30 FPS

'DOOM' is being 'custom-built' for the Switch

With the new "DOOM" due out for the Nintendo Switch, fans interested in the first-person shooter have put forth some questions about how it will perform, and the folks from Bethesda have been providing answers.

One persistent query concerns "DOOM's" frames-per-second figure, with fans specifically wondering at what rate the game will be running while it is being played on the Switch.

Glixel's Brian Crecente recently had an opportunity to ask Bethesda, the game's publisher, that fps question.

According to a Bethesda spokesperson, the game is expected to run at a "solid 30 fps" and that should allow fans to enjoy "consistently fluid and smooth" experiences while playing the game.

Graphics are also expected to be rendered similarly whether the game is played while the Switch is docked or in handheld mode.

This is not the first time that the people from Bethesda have commented on what players can expect from the Switch edition of "DOOM" from a visual standpoint.

Speaking previously to USGamer, a Bethesda spokesperson noted that the first-person shooter is "custom-built" for Nintendo's newest console. The spokesperson also noted that "while graphics won't be 1:1 with other platforms," fans can still count on seeing that distinct "look and feel" of the game.

Aside from the details about how the game will look when played on the Switch, Bethesda also revealed more about the memory requirements for it.

Going back to what the Bethesda spokesperson told Glixel, both the single player campaign and the game's arcade mode fit inside the 16GB cartridge, but the multiplayer offering apparently had to be separated. Players will have to download the multiplayer component of the game and it will take up to 9GB of space.

As Comicbook hinted, players may be best-served to have a memory card on hand if they want to download the multiplayer component too.

An exact release date for the Switch edition of "DOOM" has not been announced by the developers just yet, though it is expected to come out sometime during the upcoming holiday season.
