'DOOM' Switch News: Additional Details About How the Game Runs on Nintendo's Newest Platform Revealed

Differences between Switch version of 'DOOM' and other editions observed

The Nintendo Switch will be getting the fast-paced first-person shooter known as "DOOM" later this year, but to this point, there are still some questions about how the game is going to work on the new platform.

For what it is worth, the folks behind the game have not shied away from discussing how the game will perform on the Switch. In fact, they have even allowed some people from the outside to try out the new version for themselves.

Recently, VG247's Alex Donaldson was given an opportunity to see what the game was like on the Switch.

The writer talked about how the game looked better than expected, even if it still clearly lagged behind current-gen counterparts when it came to visuals. Donaldson also pointed out that the game did manage to reach 30 frames per second for the most part.

Now, prospective players may still be concerned that the 30 fps mark is not maintained all throughout the playing experience, though Donaldson did note that the issue was "by no means game breaking."

Lastly, Donaldson described the Switch edition of "DOOM" as a "good port." It is also worth noting here that Donaldson was only able to play the game in handheld mode.

Previously, a spokesperson for Bethesda told USGamer that the upcoming game was being "custom-built" for Nintendo's newest platform and that even if its visuals will not necessarily be on the same level as the ones featured in other versions, fans can still expect it to retain that distinct "look and feel."

Aside from being allowed to enjoy the game on-the-go, it is still unclear if there are some other exclusive features that will be included in the Switch version.

More news about the Nintendo Switch edition of "DOOM" should be made available as its holiday season release draws closer.
