'Doom' to Roll Out on Nintendo Switch this Holiday Season
"Doom," the 2016 version by Bethesda, is coming to the Nintendo Switch by the holiday season this year. The company is bringing over several of their triple-A titles to the hybrid console as well, including role-playing epic "Skyrim" and "Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus."
The Nintendo Switch is now just beginning to get the big titles ported to the handy console, and Bethesda is more than happy to supply the portable with some of their top current-gen games. The developer revealed the upcoming Switch version of their remake of "Doom" during a Nintendo Direct interview on Wednesday, Sept.13.
Bethesda also spread the good news through social media. In a post to Instagram, the company showed a preview of the Switch cover art for "Doom," alongside the upcoming port of "Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus," which is set to be released in 2018.

The company also gave a mention of their "Skyrim" release for the Switch in their announcement. "We're excited to bring more of our games to #NintendoSwitch: #DOOM will arrive in Holiday 2017, and #Wolf2 in 2018! Not to mention #SkyrimSwitch on November 17!" Bethesda announced in their Instagram caption.
For the holidays this year, Switch players can get the new "Doom" reboot for their handheld, complete with the updates and DLC for the original game, some of which Bethesda has already given away for free. The SnapMap level editor, however, will not make it to Nintendo's console, as the company shared with Engadget.
The Switch game card for "Doom," moreover, can only carry the single-player campaign due to its capacity limit. To get the rest of the online multiplayer content, players can grab these as add-on updates, for free.
Players who opt to get the game by digital download gets the whole thing in one bundle.
While a specific date is yet to be announced for the "Doom" Switch version, updates are expected to come in the coming weeks through Bethesda's social media handles. Meanwhile, "Skyrim" is coming to the console on Nov. 17, ahead of the classic FPS.
