Dove Awards 2012: Kirk Franklin, Kari Jobe, Jaci Velasquez Interviews (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)
Three of Gospel music's biggest stars took time to speak with The Christian Post before the Dove Awards on April 19. Kirk Franklin, Kari Jobe, and Jaci Velasquez are icons in the industry and each attended this year's awards ceremony.
Kirk Franklin, whose new album "Hello Fear" debuted on March 22, was nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year. Though he lost to Jason Crabb, Franklin remains a significant voice in the Gospel music industry. His hit "I Smile" took home an award for Contemporary Gospel Song of the Year, as did the album "Hello Fear."
Franklin keeps in touch with fans using his website and Twitter. On April 23, he tweeted, "I'm thankful God lets me borrow His songs so I can give them to you. You are important to Him!" It is clear that Franklin intends to continue producing "God's songs" for years to come.
Singer Kari Jobe performed at the Dove Awards and tweeted throughout the experience. "I'm singing on Dove Awards right now…so fun…missing it? Whole thing comes on again right after this one is over!"
She also tweeted congrats to Female Vocalist of the Year Natalie Grant: "Natalie, you are so elegant and anointed. Thank you for filling my home with worship. Love you!"
Her latest album, "Where I Find You" was released in January. Jobe has said that the songs "come from such an honest place of praising God for what He's done-and what He's continuing to do in our lives-because of His grace and goodness."
Jaci Velasquez also took time to speak with CP about her plans for the future. She is currently touring as part of the Diamond tour. The album "Diamond" was released in February and has brought her much success. Now her international tour is set to increase her exposure and draw in an even wider audience.
Velasquez has been blessed with the ability to perform in both English and Spanish, allowing her international fame and adoration. She has released 17 albums since 1992 and has had several number 1 hits. Velasquez has won seven Dove awards, including Best New Artist and Female Vocalist of the Year.
