'Downton Abbey' Season 7 Rumors: Michelle Dockery Says Film Adaptation of 'Downton Abbey' Possible

Two years ago, Carnival Films and ITV Studios confirmed that "Downton Abbey" season 6 would be the last for the historical drama series. Despite the announcement, fans still continue to hope that they will see the series and their favorite characters again, may that be through a spin-off series or a film adaptation.

Recently, "Downton Abbey" alum Michelle Dockery talked about the possibility of a "Downton Abbey" film adaptation. The "Good Behavior" star graced the red carpet premiere of "The Sense of an Ending" in New York City early this week and was asked if fans could see their favorite "Downton Abbey" stars ever again.

Although Dockery did not confirm that a film adaptation is in the offing, she said there is still a chance for the project to happen. However, she implied that projects as ambitious as that take time so fans should not expect it to materialize anytime soon.

"It seems to be a challenge getting 18 actors together at the same time. I'm hopeful something will come together at some point," she told Telegraph.

In the original series, Dockery portrayed one of the three daughters of the Earl of Grantham, Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville), and the Countess of Grantham, Cora Crawley (Elizabeth McGovern). Her character, Lady Mary Crawley, had two other sisters, Lady Sybil Crawley (Jessica Brown Findlay) and Lady Edith Crawley (Laura Carmichael).

Dockery's character appeared in the series from 2010 to 2015. After leaving the show, she became a cast member of "Good Behavior" a year after, where she plays the role of Letty.

This year, Dockery is part of the drama film "The Sense of an Ending," which is based on the novel of the same name by Julian Barnes. Written by Nick Payne and directed by Ritesh Batra, the film hits theaters starting this Friday, March 10.
