4 examples of Dr. Mehmet Oz's evolving views on culture war issues
3. From worry to reversal on Roe v. Wade
Oz's changing positions regarding Roe v. Wade further illustrated his ideological shift.
He told The Breakfast Club in 2019 that he was "really worried" about Alabama's abortion ban, which led some news outlets to report that he was defending Roe v. Wade.
By the time the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the 1973 decision in May 2022, Oz was tweeting that the case was "wrongly decided" and that the court was "right" to do so.
"Abortion laws should be left up to the American people and their elected representatives," he added, marking a stark departure from his earlier concerns. "I look forward to supporting pro-life legislation that saves innocent lives in the U.S. Senate."
