'Dragon Ball FighterZ' Release Date: Nintendo Switch Launch Now a Bigger Possibility, Thanks to 'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2'?

"Dragon Ball FighterZ" is currently only slated for release to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, but the latest turn of events in the "Dragon Ball" realm could make a Nintendo Switch release possible as well.

Back in June, game producer Tomoko Hiroki told the French website GamesBlog that while nothing is set in stone on that front yet, they could end up releasing the game on the Nintendo Switch if players continue to ask for it. He said at that time:

I will say that if we continue to receive requests from the fans, we will manage to create a Switch version also. The latter may not come out at the same time as the others, but we might consider it.

The success of the launch of the "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" in the Nintendo Switch would not need fans to do some petitioning. The game was released on the console in Japan back a few days ago, Sept. 7 to be exact, and it immediately sold out.

Bandai Namco Entertainment did not have enough stock for gamers in the country clamoring to play the fighting game on the console and has ordered new units that will be available by the end of the month. In a tweet, the company stated via Google translate:

Now the packaged version is in short supply nationwide. Additional shipment is planned sequentially from late September. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, but please wait for a while because it is with [limited time offer].

The huge demand for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" on the Nintendo Switch definitely speaks for itself and is expected to increase the chances of "Dragon Ball FighterZ" making it to the console as well.

There will be no issues with regards to porting the game there either because as Hiroki said in the same interview, "there is really no question of power" as far as bringing "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" to the Switch.

It is safe to say that the same can be said for "Dragon Ball FighterZ," so there is no reason for the upcoming fighting game to be miss out on the Nintendo Switch especially with the huge interest in it.

For now, however, nothing has been confirmed yet. "Dragon Ball FighterZ" is set for release early next year.
