'Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden' for Nintendo 3DS Coming to the US in October

It's going to be a good year for "Dragon Ball Z" fans. First, there is a new anime series, 18 years after the last one called "Dragon Ball Super." While the series will first be aired on Fuji TV on July 5, its Western version is likely to find its way to the U.S. soon. The second piece of good news, also for Japanese fans of the series, is that a new fighting game has arrived this summer in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS.

For fans in other territories such as North America, South America, Europe, the Middle Easy, Australia and the rest of Asia, the good news in the gaming arena is coming a bit later in the year, in October. According to a report in Tech Times, the new Nintendo 3DS game, "Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden," will arrive in Europe, the Middle East and Australasia on October 16 and in North America and South America a few days later on Oct. 20. The announcement was made by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the game's publisher.

The game is a classic fighting game otherwise known as a "beat-me-up" game, which pits one player versus another. It's rendered in 2D only given the limitation of the console, but is one of the more popular games on Nintendo. The new game is said to feature 20 playable characters and 100 other characters that assist the main character in the fight. According to another report in Forbes, the game's main advantage is the fact that the moves that one can make during the fight are (almost) limitless.

Other new "Dragon Ball Z" content is coming to Western shores soon. The latest movie "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F" was premiered in April and is said to get a U.S. release and an English dub sometime during the summer.
