'Dragon Ball Z's' Gohan and Krillin Appear in an Ad for Ford's Car

In a curious turn of events, a Ford advertisement has transformed into a short "Dragon Ball Z" clip or vice versa. The advertisement is completely set in the anime series with a dragon, Gohan, and Krillin appearing in a video that is about half a minute long.

In the short footage, some viewers might not help but wonder if they have, by any chance, accidentally switched the channel or clicked on the wrong link and are now watching "Dragon Ball Z." The video really looks like an excerpt from the anime but for one reason or another was turned into an advertisement for Ford.

Polygon's Owen S. Good spotted and wrote about the advertisement on Saturday, but it was uploaded to Ford's official YouTube channel on Thursday, Dec. 17.

The video features a wish-granting dragon, Gohan, and Krillin. The specific scene used in the advertisement comes from the "Namek Saga," according to The News Hub. The scene depicts the first introduction of Krillin and Gohan to the Namekian dragon. The video ends with the message: "conserve your wishes."

"Dragon Ball Z's Krillin and Gohan have three wishes… but who needs three wishes when you can have the complete package in a 2016 Ford Focus?" the car company writes in the video's description.

And by complete package, Ford means having a car audio system from Sony, a rearview camera, and an EPA estimated rating of 42 highway miles per gallon. All these features, of course, are available in its new 2016 Ford Focus.

The video is titled "The Ultimate Wish is Granted" and positions the 2016 Ford Focus as the most convenient and fun option out there.

Although Ford is an American company, it seems to be taking a page from local Japanese commercials that are tapping into the power of anime. Below are some examples of these commercials, including one for a cup noodle and another for a Mets drink.
