Drake Says Thinking About Chris Brown Takes Him To Dark Place
Drake, the 26-year-old rapper, recently admitted that thinking about 24-year-old rival singer Chris Brown put him in a dark place.
"If I think about it too much, I feel it wrapping around my foot, like I get a feeling it could end really badly…Like, it gets really dark," the rapper revealed in the July issue of GQ magazine.
The two musicians engaged in a physical altercation at a New York City nightclub last year. Now, Drake says he does not want to be thought of in the same respect as Brown.
"I hear he has everything he could want now. I don't want my name to be synonymous with that guy's name," Drake told GQ. "I really don't. I wish we could sit down just like you and me are right now, and talk it out man-to-man. But that's not going to happen."
Drake, the Canadian rapper born Aubrey Drake Graham, spoke up about Brown while on East Village Radio's "Keep It Thoro" show last April. Although Brown has been vocal about his issues with Drake during promotional interviews, the latter has been hesitant to address the origin of the issues with his fellow musician.
"Don't ask me (expletive) about that man when I come up there. Leave that man alone. Stop preying on his insecurities," Drake said on the radio show. "His insecurities are the fact that I make better music than him. I'm more poppin' than him."
The rapper urged people to stop fueling the issues between he an Brown, saying that nothing good could come from the situation. Since Brown is a singer, Drake said he should stick to doing just that.
"I don't want to hear that man rap," Drake said on the East Village radio show. "Nobody wants to hear me rap against him. I really do this (expletive). Let him put out that, whatever, Project X or whatever he's working on and I'm going to put out that real (expletive) for the people."
Brown addressed his own issues with Drake during an appearance on the New York City radio "The Breakfast Club" earlier this year.
"At the end of the day I don't hash on ... dudes can say whatever. I'm not a rapper. I'm gonna say what I want, like who's gonna beat me up," Brown questioned. "Honestly I think he's a cool dude as far as music. It's not even a thought, people just don't like certain people. He don't like me and I don't like him.
