Drake Skips BET Awards To Avoid Chris Brown?
Drake, the 26-year-old rapper who was nominated for 12 BET awards, did not appear at the network's award show and singer Chris Brown may be the reason.
The rapper was nominated for more awards than any other artist this year, but he reportedly backed out of the awards ceremony because of his feud with Brown.
"The reason Drake isn't [at the BET Awards] is 100 percent all about Chris Brown," a source reportedly told Hollywoodlife.com.
The two musicians engaged in a physical altercation at a New York City nightclub last year.
"If I think about it too much, I feel it wrapping around my foot, like I get a feeling it could end really badly…Like, it gets really dark," the rapper revealed in the July issue of GQ magazine.
After Drake was nominated for more awards than any other artist this year, BET producers reportedly had issues with his unwillingness to attend the award show Sunday.
"Everything is in flux," a source reportedly revealed to RadarOnline.com. "The producers are all pulling their hair out."
Drake has been vocal about not wanting to be thought of in the same respect as Brown.
"I hear he has everything he could want now. I don't want my name to be synonymous with that guy's name," Drake told GQ. "I really don't. I wish we could sit down just like you and me are right now, and talk it out man-to-man. But that's not going to happen."
Brown addressed his own issues with Drake during an appearance on the New York City radio "The Breakfast Club" earlier this year.
"At the end of the day I don't hash on ... dudes can say whatever. I'm not a rapper. I'm gonna say what I want, like who's gonna beat me up," Brown questioned. "Honestly I think he's a cool dude as far as music. It's not even a thought, people just don't like certain people. He don't like me and I don't like him."
