Drew Barrymore Talks Difficult Split from Will Kopelman for the First Time
For the first time after her split with Will Kopelman, Drew Barrymore has shared the long and difficult road she had to tread before finally announcing the decision to the public.
Talking to Anne Monette Roberts of PopSugar, the actress said, "I had a really hard time a couple of months ago and kind of knew life was heading in a new direction." Before finally deciding with Kopelman that their marriage has to be ended, she first called a friend who she describes as someone "I really trust, respect, and believe in."
Barrymore was told that she should "put one foot in front of the other" and on Saturday, just before stepping out and presenting her line of wines, that's exactly what she did. Multiple outlets reported that day that she put on a strong face and dealt with her business first before her emotions.
Hours before launching Barrymore Wines Rosé at the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival, Barrymore and Kopelman announced that they will be splitting after three years of marriage. They have two daughters together, Olive, 3, and Frankie, almost 2.
A source told E! News at the time of the announcement that the couple had not been living in the same roof for the past months. While the actress never said anything bad about her art consultant husband, they reportedly seemed "very disconnected."
In 2014, Barrymore talked about how she enjoyed her marriage with Kopelman and having their beautiful children. Neither the actress nor Kopelman hinted in public that they were having marital issues and the split came as a shock to many fans.
Before ending her talk with Roberts during Saturday's event, the "Charlie's Angels" star said that she only cares now about is making her daughters feel that they are loved no matter what. "For them to know that they were not just loved, but, like, ridiculously, utterly, life-alteringly loved. That's the only reason I'm here now!" she said.
