"Duck Dynasty" star and matriarch Miss Kay Robertson has spoken about the darkest time in her life, after she learned that husband Phil had cheated on her. Miss Kay has revealed exactly why she chose to remain with Phil and how important marriage and faith are to her.

"The worst advice I ever got was when they [her family] told me to leave him (Phil). I attribute a lot of sticking with him to my grandma. She was such a stickler for staying with your marriage. She always used to say, 'You have to fight for your marriage.' Of course I was someone that never believed I would have to do that because I read way too many books that ended with, 'And they lived happily ever after.' When I say, 'I love you,' it's for life. If we would not have stayed together I would have known in my heart that I had done everything I could possibly do to make that marriage work," Miss Kay told Fox411.

Miss Kay also explained that she wanted to tell her story in order to encourage others to fight for their marriages but not necessarily to stay in dangerous relationships, because "God doesn't want us to be in a situation where we're in harm and our lives are in danger."

Eventually Phil sobered up and turn to God. Miss Kay and her kids all remained in constant prayer for Phil as he made those decisions and rejoiced when he finally gave up the drink for good.

"When he became a Christian, Jase said, 'Does that mean the devil is going to leave my daddy?' I said, 'Yes, the Lord is living in him now, not the devil. He's had 10 years to do a lot of bad things. It's going to take him time to grow. He doesn't know how to be good but if we just love him and help him he will,' and that's basically the story of what happened," Miss Kay said.

She added that every year she tells her story of faith and salvation and adds "something else that I remember. Here's the deal: there is no fear in honesty," she explained.
