Phil Robertson of "Duck Dynasty" opened up about his controversial comments about homosexuality last year, attributing his statements to the Word of God.

Last December, the Robertson family patriarch made waves when discussing the Bible as well as homosexuality with GQ magazine. His comments resulted in a suspension from A&E's "Duck Dynasty" for a period of time. Today, the 68-year-old reality television star is promoting his new book unPHILtered: The Way I See It when he spoke with Us Weekly about his past comments.

"All I did was quote a passage of Scripture from antiquity," Robertson said. "They're mad at me, but I'm really just quoting what God said, so He's the one they have a problem with."

Furthermore, the father of four admitted faults that could alienate him from "Duck Dynasty" fans, but he largely disregards many of his critics.

"I don't worry too much about people hating or insulting me," Robertson said. "I'm a sinful man, and I've made a lot of mistakes. People have reason to hate me."

Meanwhile, "Duck Dynasty" follows Robertson and his family who became wealthy from their family-operated business, Duck Commander. Just last week, A&E recently signed "Duck Dynasty" to the network through next year. Phil's eldest son Alan Robertson said of the news: "We know we're locked in for at least another full year, through 2015. Beyond that, we really don't know," according to The Shreveport Times.

Alan, also known as the "first beardless" member of the Robertson family, promised that the next year would include great stories on "Duck Dynasty."

"We have recommitted this year, both our family and the network production crew- to putting out some really good stories from our family that we can all enjoy," he said.

"Duck Dynasty" airs on A&E Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST.
