Duggar Family Member Blackmailed Over 'Intimate' Photos (VIDEO)
A woman in Iowa has been charged with extortion in an attempt to blackmail a member of the show "19 Kids and Counting."
Teresa Hunt allegedly threatened to release photos of a member of the Duggar family in "intimate situations." Hunt demanded that Discovery Communications, Inc., pay her $10,000 or cancel the show in exchange for her silence.
She was arrested on Feb. 1 after sending multiple letters threatening action.
Affidavits between Hunt and the FBI feature emails in which Hunt revealed she had "more [photos] buried in a box at my parent's home, but it will take some time to go through the boxes to find them. I'm attaching what I currently have on my computer. I hope these are enough."
An FBI agent contacted Hunt, claiming he was from the Discovery corporation and was assigned to follow up on her letters. Emails were exchanged and the arrest made.
The email from Hunt also stated that she did not want to hurt any of the Duggar family, but one of the cast members is "on a reality show and pretends to be a right-wing Christian [who is] sleeping with a 56-year-old man."
The Des Moines Register confirmed that the castmate in question is cousin Amy Duggar.
"The pictures apparently show Amy with a 56-year-old musician," reads the Duggar family's blog. "In response to the accusation, Amy affirms that the man is simply a family friend who has been supporting her music career."
Amy has taken to Twitter to thank people "for all the support I am receiving lately regarding the 'scandal.' God Bless you all!"
New episodes of TLC's hit series, "19 Kids and Counting," premiere on Valentine's Day. The season premiere will be the sixth for the super-sized Duggar family.
