The matriarch and patriarch of the Duggar family, Michelle and Jim Bob, recently visited a fertility doctor to see what the odds of them having another child are. Both have said they would welcome another baby despite the fact that they already have 19 and that another pregnancy could put Michelle's health in jeopardy.

"We would love more children if God saw fit to give us more," Michelle told the cameras on the TLC reality show "19 Kids & Counting." "I just want to make sure that I am ready to catch a baby if that would happen. My goal is to find out where I am in my life, hormonally speaking."

Michelle and Jim Bob visited Dr. Paul Wendel, an OB-GYN who specializes in high-risk pregnancies. Given Michelle's age, 47, and the fact that she has successfully delivered 19 children, she falls into the high-risk category and would require special care should she get pregnant again.

"If I am in that season of life where we're not able to have any more, then I'm fine," Michelle explained. "I'm happy with that."

Dr. Wendel told the Duggars that their odds of naturally conceiving at this time are less than 5 percent and the odds of having a child with Down syndrome are "one in four or five." However, Michelle joked, they have been beating the odds for quite some time now. But this is the longest that Michelle has gone without getting pregnant. Her last pregnancy resulted in a stillbirth, which the family grieved over in 2011.

It's been no secret that Michelle and Jim Bob would welcome another child at any point in their lives; part of their belief in God states that they are leaving it up to God when (and if) they have any more children. That has been their attitude since suffering a miscarriage not long after the birth of their first son, Josh, in 1988.
