Dungy, Starr, Jones to Speak at Super Bowl Breakfast
Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy, legendary Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr, and ex-San Francisco 49ers All-Star tight end Brent Jones will speak at this years Super Bowl Breakfast.
The program, which is scheduled to air on Super Bowl Sunday on the Sky Angel Network, will showcase life stories and personal faith testimonies of Dungy, Starr, and football stars from this years Super Bowl teams. Jones will emcee the event.
The purpose of the breakfast is to emphasize faith in football and to honor those who have shown exceptional character. That honor is played out during the highlight of the annual breakfast - the awarding of the prestigious Bart Starr Award. Starr himself hands out the prize to a current NFL player who has been voted by his peers for demonstrating outstanding moral fiber and leadership on and off the field.
Finalists for this years honor are John Lynch, free safety for the Denver Broncos; Peyton Manning, quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts; and Warrick Dunn, running back for the Atlanta Falcons.
Now in its 20th year, the breakfast is put on by Athletes in Action, the sports outreach ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International, and is sanctioned by the NFL.
The Bart Starr award is named after the Hall of Famer due for his lifelong commitment as a positive role model to his teammates, family and community.
The program will air multiple times on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4, throughout the United States on the Sky Angel satellite television service and in Canada via Sky Angel's new Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service.
