'DWTS' Champion Meryl Davis Reacts to Win, 'Completely Overwhelmed'

"Dancing With The Stars" champions Meryl Davis and her partner Maks Chmerkovskiy voiced their reaction to winning the season 18 Mirrorball trophy during Tuesday night's finale.

Davis and Chmerkovskiy earned the title after scoring the highest scores in "DWTS" history and sealing the win with a dazzling "fusion" dance with blended the foxtrot and the cha cha. Directly after the show, Davis thanked her legions of fans via Twitter.

"Thank you all for the incredible support… I'm completely overwhelmed," she wrote. "@MaksimC and I have been so fortunate to share this journey with you!"

"It's just plastic, but it means so much," Maks said directly after the winning announcement was made, referring to he and Davis' Mirrorball trophy. "And to [win] it with Meryl is a dream come true. There's a reason it didn't happen before. It's because I was meant to do it with her."

Shortly after being crowned champions, the dancing duo joined "DWTS" runners-up Candace Cameron Bure, her partner Mark Ballas, Amy Purdy and her partner Derek Hough on a private flight to New York City before a full day of press. After appearing on "Good Morning America," the champions also stopped by "Live! With Kelly and Michael."

"It felt great, it felt amazing, it was so hard," Maks said Wednesday while on "Live!"

The professional dancer finally earned his first "DWTS" championship after being with the ABC reality series since season one.

"I'm going to give the trophy to my mom," he added.

While Davis and Chmerkovskiy scooped season 18's Mirrorball trophy, Amy Purdy and Derek Hough took second-place. Purdy, a 34-year-old Paralympic snowboarder, admitted that the "DWTS" competition taught her a lesson about herself.

"I realized how strong I am, I've obviously been through a lot with my legs but on top of that I worked through back spasms," she said while on "GMA."

"You use what you have and push through and it was so much more than I could have imagine," she added.
