'DWTS' Elimination Results (SPOILERS)
"Dancing With the Stars" eliminated another couple from its competition last night. Comedian D.L. Hughley and partner Cheryl Burke; Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold; and Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson all stood an equal chance of being eliminated, but in the end, Hughley and Burke were sent home.
"I've had a ball," Hughley told the judges. "You need to work on your hip action," he specifically told judge Len Goodman before leaving the stage.
"I mean, the judges didn't help us at all," Burke later told Entertainment Weekly after the show. "Just to be able to dance for the fans and to work hard for them because they obviously believe in him and want him to do well– that's what it was all about."
"My heart is very sad but my knees are happy as hell," Hughley joked. "I think we took the ride as long as we could. It's hard to be this bad for this long at something. I remember I was on stage Friday and people were laughing and clapping and I was like, 'Oh, this is who I am!' I feel like I forgot who I was," the comedian added.
Hughley is now set to start work on a new sitcom that is still in its early stages and will make an appearance to accept a Peabody award for the documentary "The Endangered List."
"The thing that makes me have to do it is I think that people get the sense that the judges are being … a little harsher and I think they see me as the underdog," Hughley told Ellen DeGeneres. He insisted that he would have never willingly quit the series but was willing to work harder and do whatever it took to stay on the show.
"I've never seen myself that way, but it is an interesting position … it is that people have invested. It's the dude that votes for me from prison. So I got to work hard … I'd never quit. What's important to me is that I don't quit and people see that regardless of how physically painful it is and out of my league. I would never give someone that kind of victory over me," Hughley explained.
The next episode of "Dancing With the Stars" airs Monday, April 22, at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
