'DWTS' Star Maria Menounos Earns Perfect Score (VIDEO)
'DWTS' star Maria Menounos has earned the first perfect score of the new season of the popular dancing show. Menounos shocked the audience with her performance, which included a costume and vampire teeth.
Last night she and partner Derek Hough both sported vampire fangs for their performance of the paso doble, which was set to Prokoflev's "Montagues and Capulets," a play on Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."
The paso doble, Spanish for double-step, is a specific dance set to pasodoble music, which is typically played when a bullfighter enters the ring. It is considered a march, having a lively step and drawing people to their feet, and the dance ie meant to duplicate the movements of a Spanish bullfight.
Judges were very impressed with Menounos and Hough's interpretation of the piece and awarded them the full 30 points, giving them bragging rights of having the first perfect score.
"That was amazing. You were so on fire!" exclaimed judge Carrie Ann Inaba. "Katherine [Jenkins] has been on the lead for the girls, but she better watch her back, 'cause you're coming at her."
"Bite me! Turn me! Right now. The structure of the dance, the way you build the drama and the storytelling, was absolutely spellbinding," added Bruno Tonili, who also referred to Menounos as the "Queen of the Night."
Fans were also delighted with Menounos' performance, giving their feedback and approval of the dance online. "Did you see Maria Menounos on DWTS last night as a vamp? It was awesome! Go watch if you haven't," advised MoxieSix.
Mary Margaret Habyan enjoyed "watching Maria Menounos sink [her] fangs into flawless score" last night.
"Consider us under her spell!" noted blogger Perez Hilton. "The competition is JUST heating up!"
"This has been the most amazing experience of my life … I love this man [Hough] so much. That's all anybody needs to know. I love him so much," Menounos told the judges before they revealed her perfect score.
