Heartwarming! Dying Man Gets Wish to See Upcoming 'Star Wars' Movie Before Death
In a move that touched the hearts of many, Disney allowed a man his dying wish to see "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," although the film is yet to be released.
Daniel Fleetwood, 32, who was terminally ill with cancer, knew he did not have much time left. A devoted fan of the science fiction series, Fleetwood was granted his dying wish of seeing the film.
Not slated for public release until mid-December, a social media campaign brought Fleetwood's request to the makers of the seventh installment of the classic movie series.
In a heartwarming act, Disney and Director J.J. Abrams agreed to let Fleetwood see an unedited version of the movie, which is expected to become an instant blockbuster.
Mark Hamill, the actor who played the main protagonist in the first set of Star Wars films, took to social media to commend higher-ups for allowing Fleetwood to see the movie.
"I just read this and am elated for Daniel and his family! Thanks to the powers-that-be for making his dream come true," tweeted Hamill.
Tragically, just days after viewing the film, Fleetwood succumbed to his illness. As his wife posted on social media, Daniel "is now one with God and with the force."
