E-Bibles Top Religion Charts for E-Readers
The eBible has become one of the top selling digital books.
Zondervan, the world's leading Bible publisher, recently announced that its NIV Bible has been among the top five eBooks in the Religion & Spirituality Category of Apple's iBookstore and Amazon's Kindle Store since the beginning of 2010.
The mega Bible publisher also said eBibles now represent more than 40 percent of the company's eBook revenues, and has outsold some traditional hardcover Bible products.
"Zondervan has continued to release more and more Bibles and we [have] seen that the more that we offer consumers, they are eager to purchase them," said Melinda Bouma, associate marketing director for Zondervan, to The Christian Post.
Bouma said the combination of Zondervan offering more Bible formats and consumers increasingly adopting eBook readers has helped increase eBible sales.
Zondervan is the leading seller for eBibles. It was the first to offer the eBible for the iPad and offers more than 15 Bible titles for eBook readers. The eBible is available for eBook readers including: iPad, Kindle, Nook, and Sony Readers, among others.
"We are committed to publishing Bibles in any format that the consumer would want to engage God's Word in, so for us that certainly includes eBooks," Bouma commented.
The publishing giant plans to offer eBibles in other languages. Currently, the eBible is only offered in English.
The price for eBibles on different eReaders range from $0.99 to $20.98.
