EDC Announces CLU President as New President, CEO
Dr. Luther S. Luedtke, president of California Lutheran University, will be the new president and chief executive officer for Education Development Center, Inc., the Board of Trustees announced Thursday.

Succeeding Janet Whitla, who has served as EDC's president for the past 25 years, Luedtke, 62, has been credited for major growth at CLU under his leadership.
"The EDC Trustees are delighted to welcome Dr. Luedtke to EDC," said Deborah Wadsworth, chairman of the EDC Board of Trustees, in a statement released Thursday. "Our search was extensive and we are pleased to have found in Dr. Luedtke the blend of experience, integrity, compassion, and scholarship that will ensure EDC's continued effectiveness in the years ahead."

Since Luedtke’s presidency at CLU, the university has grown in enrollment, faculty, campus facilities and financial resources. New undergraduate and graduate programs have also been established during his 14 years at the university, including an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and an International MBA. According to a released EDC report, the CLU operating budget has more than doubled, net assets have quintupled, and the endowment has increased seven-fold between 1992 and 2005.
"I am elated to join the EDC team," said Luedtke. "The EDC community of researchers, policy analysts, and development specialists provides a rare and much needed bridge between the academy, government, philanthropy, and a world of need."
Luedtke will begin his tenure in early April.
