'Elementary' season 4 cast news: Shohreh Aghdashloo joins cast

It was revealed that the upcoming season of "Elementary" will be introducing a new character.

As reported by TVLine, Shohreh Aghdashloo will be joining the cast for season 4 as Donya Esfandiari. She is described as a "glamorous international hotelier" and the associate of Morland. John Noble's character, Morland, is the father of Sherlock, portrayed by Johnny Lee Miller. Aghdashloo has taken on roles in films such as "House of Sand and Fog," where she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She has also played a character named Stefiana Vaduva Popescu in the hit series "Grimm" and other TV series such as "24," and "House of Saddam." She is also involved in the upcoming space series called "The Expanse."

The upcoming season will begin a day after Sherlock realized that his father was on his way to New York. However, his father' s arrival does not necessary put him in a light mood as his father has been absent from his life ever since he was young. According to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer of the series Rob Doherty said, "Once he arrives, Sherlock does not appreciate the attention or the distraction that his dad represents. For him, it's too little too late. This is a father and a son with a very complicated history. I'd say for at least a couple decades, Sherlock's father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby." Morland is expected to develop a relationship over Joan. However, fans will have to wait until the start of the season, in order to find out exactly how Morland's presence will affect the story for the episodes to come.
