'Elementary' Season 4 Spoilers: Sherlock's Father Returns to Reconnect, Where is Mrs. Holmes?

American crime drama series "Elementary" season 4 is returning a few days from now and a sort of family reunion is bound to happen. However, this is not a reunion that Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) is looking forward to celebrating as the person returning in his life is his estranged father.

According to Vine Report, the fourth season will kick off with more introduction of Sherlock's father, Morland, who will be played by "Lord of the Rings" star John Noble. He initially appeared before season 3 ended wherein it showed him making his way to New York to check on Sherlock after learning that he had fallen off the wagon.

He will also come knocking at his son's life again as he has been missing in action most of the time. But as he tries to reconnect with Sherlock, his efforts will be rejected. Executive producer Rob Doherty told Entertainment Weekly that Sherlock will not appreciate the attention and distraction his father brings.

"For him, it's too little too late. This is a father and a son with a very complicated history. I'd say for at least a couple decades, Sherlock's father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby," said Doherty.

Sherlock also thinks that his old man has returned for a mischievous reason, suspecting that he has a secret despite how everyone else around him will see the good in his father. But with Mr. Holmes in town, where could Mrs. Holmes be?

Design & Trend reported that the story of Sherlock's mom could be covered at some point. Doherty confirmed via a conference call with Zap2it that there have been talks about it but details are kept under wraps. One thing is certain though—the kind of relationship Sherlock shared with his mom will be revealed later on.

"Elementary" season 4 episode 1 titled "The Past is Parent" is slated to air on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 10 p.m. on CBS.
