'Elementary' Season 5 Episode 18: Sherlock and Joan Go Treasure Hunting
Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) will go on a treasure hunt in the streets of New York City in the upcoming episode of "Elementary."
In the episode titled "Dead Man's Tale," the synopsis (according to CarterMatt) reveals that the consultants will be handed a case involving an alleged map to a pirate's hidden treasure. It appears that somewhere in New York, a huge fortune is buried, waiting for its owner to find it. Sherlock and Joan will be swept in an exciting quest to locate the missing piles of gold. Will they be able to find the treasure?
The promo shows that they will. In the clip, Sherlock is shown inspecting a huge chest. When he opens its, the sheen of gold is visible. Viewers can also catch a glimpse of an ancient-looking gold coin. After forwarding their find to the authorities, bad things seem to keep on happening around those who touched the treasure. It looks like the gossip about the gold's curse is true. Sherlock tells Joan and Bell (Jon Michael Hill) that they have nothing to worry about, but they are still uneasy.
That night, Sherlock has an accident. In the teaser, he is walking alone when someone throws a rock at his head. Could the curse really be true?
Meanwhile, he and Joan will once again debate on whether or not Shinwell (Nelsan Ellis) is the man he is claiming himself to be. When the ex-convict was accused of murdering a fellow gang member, the consultants did their best to help him. Sherlock even tampered with the evidence to prevent Shinwell from going back to prison.
Recent events, however, point out that Shinwell might have committed the crime. If he is guilty, Sherlock and Joan made a terrible mistake by aiding him. She still believes, though, that her former patient has nothing to do with the murder. Sherlock is not so sure, but he wants to trust his partner's judgment.
"Elementary" season 5 airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
