'Elementary' Season 6 News: When Will CBS Drama Return With New Episodes?
"Elementary" may not follow its usuall fall airing schedule for season 6.
The CBS program recently received additional episodes for its upcoming run. While it seems good news for fans, the increased episode count might mean "Elementary's" usual schedule will be affected.
Cartermatt reports that since "Elementary" will now run 21 episodes, it's possible the show will end up airing over the summer. This is quite earlier than fans would expect, since the show often premieres later in the year.

In November, Deadline confirmed that CBS ordered eight additional episodes for the show's upcoming installment. From its original 13 episodes, the procedural's midseason run will not have an almost full season order of 21 episodes.
The order comes on the heels of CBS confirming that "Wisdom of the Crowd" would no longer be picked up for a second run. Despite performing well in terms of ratings, the Jeremy Piven-fronted freshman series has been affected by the controversies surrounding its lead star, who was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women.
Since its debut in 2012, "Elementary" has maintained modest ratings at CBS. Season 5 has an average of 1.2 rating and 7.7 million viewers per episode based on Nielsen's Live+7 ratings. Although it did not have record-breaking numbers, the program continued to be profitable for the network. It has even secured library deals and gained fans from all over the world.
Back in June, executive producer Rob Doherty teased that it will not be long until Joan (Lucy Liu) finally finds out Sherlock's secret. Fans can expect some tension between the duo as she feels betrayed by her closest friend.
"He will indeed," Doherty said when asked if Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) will reveal his true condition soon. "He knows by now that problems like these are best addressed with help from friends. The question will be, has he waited too long to confide in her?"
"Elementary" season 6 is expected to premiere next year on CBS. A definitive release date has yet to be announced by the network.
