Elizabeth Escalona Beat Daughter Into Coma, Told Court 'Only God Can Judge Me'
Elizabeth Escalona has been charged with extreme child abuse after admitting to gluing her 2-year-old daughter's hands to a wall and beating the small girl into a coma. Escalona pleaded guilty but told the court, "Only God can judge me."
In September, Escalona called her mother to say that something was wrong with her daughter, 2-year-old Joselyn Cedillo. When her mother arrived, the little girl was unconscious and had been severely beaten. She immediately took Joselyn to the hospital, where she was put on life support and treated for multiple internal injuries.
Thankfully, Joselyn survived the vicious attack at the hands of her mother, and police charged Escalona with child abuse. According to Joselyn's brother, Escalona glued her hands to the wall, which caused skin to be torn off when she fell unconscious. Escalona then hit Joselyn with a milk jug, kicked her, and beat her with a shoe and belt.

Escalona told police she had done such things because she was frustrated by "potty-training issues." She is now being held in lieu of $500,000 bail on charges that could lead to a sentence of life in prison. Authorities were amazed that Joselyn was able to survive the ordeal and the brutality of her mother.
"This is beyond abuse," said Dallas police Sgt. Brenda Nichols. "This is torture."
Joselyn and her siblings have been placed in foster care, even though family members requested that they be given custody. Child Protective Services and Dallas County Associate Judge Christine Collie agreed that the children would be safer in foster care.
"The plan is to put them all together right now, until we can figure out family placement or placement with dads," guardian Tony Olvera told WFAA.com
"I have no comment, and only God can judge me. That's all I gotta say," Escalona told reporters as she left the courtroom yesterday."
