Elton John Concert Cut Short By Strong Winds as Police Fear for Fans

Elton John has had to pull out of his outdoor concert early in Blackpool, England on Saturday night after high speed winds hit the region.

Thousands of fans had come out to see the singer perform in the seaside town in north-west England, however, terrible weather cut things short and left many fans disappointed.

Elton John was performing as part of an inaugural concert at the Tower Festival Headland arena. However, the weather deteriorated quickly and police quickly moved in to ensure no one was injured; they strongly advised John to stop the concert mid-way through and allow fans to make their way to shelter and out of the powerful winds.

"I have been told there is some really bad weather on the way," John told the 11,000-strong crowd of the situation. "The police say you need to leave right now in an orderly fashion. I'm sorry but I don't want anyone to be hurt. I'll make it up to you."

Just last year in August a number of fans were killed and injured after a stage horrifically collapsed on top of a crowd at the Indiana State Fair.

Video footage of the tragic accident shows hundreds of people screaming as strong winds caused the stage rigging for the outdoor concert to collapse on top of them just before 9 p.m. as a band were scheduled to perform.
