Emily Maynard on 'Dancing With the Stars'? Star May Forfeit 'Bachelorette'
Emily Maynard has plenty of options ahead of her, including one report that she may appear on "Dancing With the Stars." The former "Bachelorette" has also allegedly been asked to appear on a third season of the reality dating show.
"When she signed her contract to be on 'The Bachelorette,' ABC also had her sign on to commit to doing 'Dancing With the Stars,'" a source told Star magazine. "She loves being in the limelight. Emily told me the real reason she wants to do the show is to help get herself her own talk show. She's terrified of losing her fame. She loves being famous and has wanted it her entire life."
Maynard spoke of how reluctant she was to do the second season of "Bachelorette," especially given how hurt she was by Brad Womack and the loss of her daughter's father, Ricky. Yet after the breakup with "Bachelorette" contestant Jef Holm, Maynard has had to figure out a new plan.
She and daughter Ricki still live in North Carolina, but should Maynard continue on the reality TV path, it would require a move to California. Producers of the "Bachelorette" were willing to relocate just to have Maynard on the show with her daughter, but sources say that this time it will be Maynard who will have to relocate.
"Rick and Linda [Ricki's grandparents] were horrified by the news that Emily wants to move to California," a source told Radar Online. "They can't bear the thought of Ricki being that far away from them. She is the one thing that makes the pain of losing their son tolerable. They see so much of [their son] Ricky in their granddaughter; they love her to pieces and have become incredibly close to her."
Relations between Maynard, Rick and Linda were strained due to her decision to go on the "Bachelorette" and allow filming of daughter Ricki. This separation, if it happens, is sure to cause some heartache, but hopefully arrangements will be made to keep the family together.
