Eminem 'Berzerk' Music Video Released Today: Kid Rock, Kendrick Lamar and Rick Rubin Appear (VIDEO)
Eminem released a music video for his new single "Berzerk" this afternoon, and featured in the video is a slew of celebrity guests such as Kendrick Lamar, Rick Rubin, Slaughterhouse, and Kid Rock.
"Berzerk" off of the forthcoming Marshall Mathers LP II to be released on Nov. 5, is a throwback tune to classic hip-hop from the '80s reminiscent of the Beastie Boys. The attitude, the feel, the beat, and now even the video pays homage to the golden era of rap and kind of marks an unfamiliar musically, but well known territory for the rapper.
"Let's take it back to straight hip-hop and start it from scratch / I'm about to bloody this track up, everybody get back / That's why my pen needs a pad because my rhymes' on the rag," Eminem raps.
In true Eminem style, he leads off his album with a fun kind of kooky single that may not even sound like anything else from the rest of the album. The exception was his last album, which led off with the serious and inspiring "Not Afraid."
The video is even a classic look for Eminem as he goes back to his Slim Shady days where his hair was dyed blond. He brings back the familiar whiny and playful flow on the song. Recently Eminem's rapping has been a lot more aggressive.
"Berzerk" was first seen as a promotional trailer on his website posted during the MTV Video Music Awards.
The rapper recently released "Survival," which is in the trailer for upcoming video game, Call of Duty: Ghosts, to be released Nov. 5.
"Survival" was world premiered three weeks ago at a Call of Duty worldwide multi-player event. Eminem appeared on a video at the end of the trailer and told those watching that a music video for the song was on the way, and that details for the album would be coming shortly.
"The [new] song's about fighting back and it seems like it fits Ghosts perfectly," Eminem said in the video statement. "I'm gonna be a big part of the [Call of Duty] game. My new song's in it, got a video dropping for it soon too."
Over the weekend Eminem made an appearance on ESPN to promote his new music as well. He appeared on a segment looking confused and dazed as the announcers spoke to him. However, it was just classic Eminem goofing around.
"I'm really uncomfortable right now," he said at the end of the interview.
