Eminem Fans Thanked for Their Help in Dark Times at NYC Concert
Eminem has explained how his fans helped him through dark times in his life. The rapper was performing in New York at one of his concerts when he thanked his fans for helping him through some difficult times.
The singer has had a well known battle with addiction to prescription drugs, but he has been making his comeback and believes he has his fans to thank for giving him strength.
The 39-year-old told hundreds who had gathered for his Thursday night concert that he "wouldn't have gotten out of that dark place without y'all."
Following his comments Eminem broke into his Grammy-winning song "Not Afraid" to the delight of his screaming fans. He added that the performance was "dedicated to anybody tonight who's been through personal struggles."
Despite Eminem's battle with drugs he has now risen out from his darkness and has detailed his journey through that troubling time and how he came out in his 2010 album "Recovery."
That album was widely praised by his fans and critics alike and marked his successful comeback. It was indeed 2010's bestselling album.
On Thursday night the rapper was performing at the Hammerstein Ballroom and delighted his fans with more than a dozen of his songs. Included in his song list were some of his top hits such as "Lose Yourself," ''Love the Way You Lie" and "The Real Slim Shady."
Eminem gained popularity in 1999 with his major-label debut album, "The Slim Shady LP."
That first album, "The Marshall Mathers LP" and his third major album, "The Eminem Show," all won Grammy Awards, making Eminem the first artist to win Best Rap Album for three consecutive LPs.
