After fans of the "Harry Potter" actress filled the Internet with excited opinions following news she was dating Britian's Prince Harry, Emma Watson set the record straight in a message on social media.
"Harry Potter" star, Emma Watson took to Twitter over the weekend over news emerging she and the fourth-in-line to the British throne, Prince Harry, were seeing each other in a romantic capacity.
The news the two were dating energized Hermione and Prince Harry admirers into sending well-wishes, obsessing about them as the perfect couple and pointing Watson out as ideal princess material. Some even went so far as to merge images of Watson and Prince Harry's features to predict what their offspring would look like.
In a message on her Twitter feed, Watson reminded followers about the veracity of tabloid journalism:
The staunch womens' rights and gender equality supporter who was appointed U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014 also pointed out that women didn't need a prince to be a princess:
Her second tweet included a link to the 1995 Alfonso Cuaron film, "A Little Princess."
A friend of Prince Harry likewise confirmed that rumors of a blossoming romance between the two were untrue.
"[It's] fake. It's such a random story," the friend told US Weekly.
Prince Harry, in the tradition of his uncle, Prince Andrew, has built up a reputation for partying. He was in a five-year relationship with South African heiress Chelsy Davy until 2009, and recently split with the granddaughter of the 6th Earl of Howe, Cressida Bonas, in April last year after two years together.
Watson dated fellow Oxford student Will Adamowicz from 2011 to 2014 before moving on to Oxford rugby player, Matthew Janney. She and Janney ended their relationship in November of last year.
