It was said that Laz had the same tattoo as the men who kidnapped the youngest Lyon. In addition, Laz was seen meeting up the kidnappers. Unfortunately, even though Hakeem expressed his distrust for Laz, it was apparent that Cookie had no intention of listening to him.

According to Variety, the executive producer of the series, Ilene Chaiken, shared some details about the matter. She said, "We have to be concerned. Cookie is not one to take advice or let her kids judge her and it would be easy to think that Hakeem is just jealous because he just got his mom back and he's not sure that he wants some random guy coming in between them. Cookie is dismissing his concerns. As she said, she's pretty enraptured by Laz."

While Hakeem is recovering from the traumatic experience, reports showed that he will develop a closer bond with Laura, played by Jamila Velzaquez. Hakeem will be seen trying to help her succeed as a star. Chaiken also added that their relationship will have Hakeem mature and grow into an individual who is worth the relationship. Fans can look forward to seeing Hakeem become an adult through his relationship with Laura.

"Empire" season 2 airs every Wednesday.
