'Empire' Season 4 News, Air Date: New Promo Finds Cookie Fighting for Lucious
A new promo has been released for "Empire" season 4.
The preview, titled "Someone Worth Fighting For," opened with a flashback of the night in Las Vegas, Nevada, when Lucious (Terrence Howard) got caught up in the car explosion. Everything seemed to be going well between him and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), but then the explosion happened. After waking up from his coma, it was revealed that Lucious had no recollection of his life, including Cookie.
Cookie then made it clear that Lucious was the only man for her and said she would do whatever it takes to get his memories to return. Even in their younger years, they already had a great love between them.
"You are the love of my life," she said. "That is why I'm fighting so hard to get you back."
Another promo video, which was titled "Strong Women Don't Ask For Permission," was released earlier this month. It opened with a young Cookie being told by her father that Lucious was bad news. She disobeyed him and continued seeing the future mogul anyway.
As fans may recall, Cookie went to prison for Lucious and was seen being released in the first season's premiere episode. Her arrest and time in prison was revisited, as well as her efforts to build her relationships with her sons and her demand to obtain half of Empire.
Despite their tumultuous relationship, Lucious and Cookie still managed to find their way back to each other. And that is why Cookie believes she can jog Lucious' memory and make him remember her.
"You gon' remember me," she says. "I'm Cookie Lyon, baby. I'm unforgettable."
While Lucious is recovering, Cookie will have to step in and lead Empire. But her new position will mean that she has to keep her temper in check. This much was teased by Henson herself.
"You will see a very different Cookie this season. More reserved. She can't pop off. She's heading up board meetings," she told TV Guide.
"Empire" season 4 will bow on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
