'Empire' Season 4 Spoilers: Will Taraji P. Henson Say Goodbye In The Show Soon?
The Lyons will be back for more drama in "Empire" season 4 next week, but the controversial hip-hop family might lose one of its core members after its fifth season if rumors turn out to be true.
A source reportedly told RadarOnline that Taraji P. Henson, the actress who portrays the role of the feisty matriarch Cookie Lyon, may possibly leave the hip-hop musical TV drama once her contract expires after season 5.
According to the source, Henson's castmates are currently stressed out because she seemed to be uncommitted to show's future.
"One minute she's telling them she wants it to continue for the foreseeable future, the next she's changed her mind and talking about the next step of her career elsewhere, or needing a break for her personal life," the source reportedly said.
The source also mentioned that the entire cast and crew of "Empire" are on the edge and waiting for Henson to make up her mind regarding her plans for the show's future. They reportedly know that once the actress declared that she is already done with the show, the entire series will also be over as well. This is reportedly the reason why she is currently being treated like a royalty on the set.
Henson has yet to confirm if the rumors are true, but the actress will still be seen in the show's upcoming season alongside Terrence Howard as the head of the Lyon family and Cookie's estranged husband Lucious. They will be joined by Bryshere Y. Grey, Trai Byers, and Jussie Smollett as Lucious and Cookies sons Hakeem, Andre, and Jamal, respectively.
Details about "Empire" season 4 remains under wraps. But executive producer Ilene Chaiken told Deadline in May that Lucious will deal with the repercussions of the car accident that he was involved in at the end of season 3.
"Whether or not his memory is permanently or just temporally impaired is certainly one of the questions we'd begin the new season with," the executive producer stated.
FOX will air the premiere episode of "Empire" season 4 on Wednesday, Sept. 27, in its new timeslot that begins at 8 p.m. EDT.
