England vs Republic of Ireland Live Stream: Watch International Friendly Football Online Free

England will play hosts to the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday night at Wembley in an international friendly that will mark that 150th anniversary of the Football Association.

While the night will be a special one, there is also history to be made given that the last time these two teams met in 1995 the match had to be canceled due to fan rioting, but all indications point to a more civil encounter this time around.

The night will also be a time for England to honor one of its more consistent players in Ashley Cole, who will be making his 102nd appearance for England -- he is only the seventh English player to accomplish such a feat. Unfortunately, there is was some confusion about who would wear the captain's arm band for the duration of the match.

Manager Roy Hodgson sparked the confusion over the captaincy during a press conference Tuesday after he initially stated that Cole would lead England out against Republic of Ireland as a gesture to honor his 100th cap. After, Frank Lampard would then take over the captaincy role.

Yet minutes later, Hodgson walked back his comments and said that Cole would lead his country for the duration of the match against Giovanni Trapattoni's visitors.

Hodgson will have to overcome the absence of Steven Gerrard, Jack Wilshere and Tom Cleverley, who have pulled out of the match due to injury.

The two managers have a longstanding history facing each other with Hodgson's Malmo team beating Trapattoni's Inter Milan during the European Cup in 1989.

But while that last full meeting between the two national teams took place in a European Championship qualifier in 1991, Hodgson will keep one eye on Brazil, who will face England on Sunday in another international friendly.

Kick-off for the match is at 3 p.m. ET and can be watched online here.
