Erasing Hate Tour Targets Major Cities to Tackle Hatred, Prejudice
Erasing Hate Tour, a series of free presentations around the United States, will run through February and March, and will try to address the issue of why we hate and how we can love one another.
The tour will include lectures and discussions led by authors and activists who are trying to change the peoples perceptions of one another.
In a country divided by lines of every kind, from where we live to where we go to church, from how we vote and where we eat, Erasing Hate is a call to open up and talk about these thing
both at these events, through small group studies, and through the website, said tour organizer Zach Kincaid in a statement, br />
Erasing Hate is about addressing our bigotries that we often tailor-make in order to feel better about why we dislike someone or a certain group.
The tour is not inherently Christian, but contains many core values that are shared by the Christian world, that being to end hatred and create love in the world. The date in St. Louis will also be held in a downtown church.
The tour will begin on Feb. 8 starting in Nashville and end in Atlanta on Mar. 29. The timing of the tour was purposeful to match two significant events coming up.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the Slave Act in England, and there is a major film being released in middle February to tell the story of William Wilberforce, the person who led that campaign that abolished slavery in the British Empire, explained Kincaid.
We hope to point out, among other things, that slavery has not gone away. Modern-day slavery is a huge problem, and one that we sometimes exploit by our purchasing behaviors often without knowing it.
The tour will reach many major cities including Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Portland, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Philadelphia and will be hosted primarily at major bookstores.
