Eric Sykes Dies Aged 89 After Illness
British comedy actor and writer Eric Sykes has died aged 89. The much loved actor recently suffered a short illness and it appears that may have caused his passing away.
His manager, Norma Farnes, announced the news saying that the actor died on Wednesday morning with his family and loved ones gathered around him.
Sykes was a hugely popular comedy star and even in his 80s he was able to draw good crowds as he appeared in theater shows across London's West End.
He originally commenced his career writing scripts for the BBC, and became famous for co-writing 24 episodes of radio comedy "The Goon Show" with Spike Milligan.
In the 1960s and 70s he became well known in households across England when he appeared in "Sykes and a," which was a sitcom about two siblings living together in West London.
Later in his career Sykes wrote and acted in theater shows and appeared in some movies; he appeared in Hollywood movie "The Others," which was a suspense horror movie starring Nicola Kidman.
Sykes was known to be a loving family man and was loved not only by close friends but by thousands of fans. He was married to Eith Eleanore Milbrandt and had four children.
