Erving Walker's Taco Theft Cost Him $301
A former college basketball standout is paying a high price for a taco after he decided to eat and run.
Erving Walker, who was a starting guard at the University of Florida, pleaded no contest to a petty theft charge after he was caught stealing a $3 taco from a food truck.
Walker was also facing an additional charge of resisting arrest without violence, but was able to have the charge dropped after he entered his plea for the theft charge.

Last Thursday, Judge Walter M. Green fined Walker $301, but if Walker is able to pay the fine by Sept. 27 the incident will be removed from his record.
The situation occurred on March 30, when Walker ordered a taco from a popular street vendor at around 1 a.m. while he was on Main Street in Gainesville, Fla., according to the police report.
Walker then received the taco from the worker and then took off running from the food truck without having paid for the taco. The food truck owner then alerted police officers that were in the vicinity and a short chase ensued.
Officers were able to catch up to and stop Walker with the use of another patrol car. They then arrested him and charged him with theft and resisting arrest.
When officers asked Walker why he ran off with the food without paying for it he responded by saying that he was "just playing around."
After his court appearance Walker gave a brief statement when he offered his apology.
"It was just a silly mistake … I apologize to everybody. I'm embarrassed about it. That's not me. I'm just trying to put it behind me and move on," he said.
Some people can relate to having an urge for the tasty treat and Dan Wolken of The Daily tweeted that he might pay that much for the right taco.
"There have been moments in my life where I probably would have paid $301 for a taco," he posted.
