Eta Aquarids Meteor Shower 2015 Live Stream Free, Dates, Tonight Start Time: Watch Cinco De Mayo Meteor Shower Online

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower 2015 takes place tonight on May 5, 2015, with many sky-gazers hoping for a Cinco De Mayo meteor shower light show to remember. The meteor shower will be available to watch online through live stream via the video player below, which has a start time of 8 p.m. ET.

Sky-gazers have already witnessed the Lyrids meteor shower in April 2015, and now it's time for the Eta Aquarids 2015, which will be the next big meteor shower until the Perseids meteor shower, which takes place in August 2015.

The Eta Aquarids are not as well known for the extent of the meteor action, and does not usually have the intensity of some of the other major meteor showers each year, however, if conditions remain good then they can still be a sight not to miss.

According to experts, the Eta Aquarids meteor shower peaks overnight Tuesday and could provide some fantastic views. This meteor shower is caused by Halley's Comet, and takes place around the start of May as the Earth passes through the debris trail left behind by Halley's Comet.

Halley's comet is named after astronomer Edmond Halley and is one of the most famous, being observed for centuries with its orbit taking it around the sun past Earth every 75 years. It is scheduled to next appear in 2061.

For those wanting to watch the Eta Aquarids Meteor Shower live, they should try and get to a dark area away from lights from buildings and homes. It is best to give at least 10 minutes so that eyes can adjust to the darkness, and look skywards.

NASA has estimated that tonight's meteor shower could see up to 45 meteors an hour at its peak, although the best viewing region is in the Southern Hemisphere this time.

An Eta Aquarids live stream is being provided by Slooh and will begin at 8 p.m. ET, and can be seen by clicking here.
