Eva Longoria, Ernesto Arguello Split Following Engagement Rumors

Eva Longoria and Ernesto Arguello have reportedly split just three weeks after engagement rumors surfaced.

The "Desperate Housewives" star, 38, began dating Arguello, 34, who appeared on the actress' reality TV show, "Ready for Love," in 2012 and they recently ended their relationship after distance became an issue. Longoria is based in Los Angeles while Arguello is situated in Miami, according to TMZ.com.

"They're just on hold right now," a source told TMZ leaving open the possibility of a future reconciliation.

The split reports came as a shock to fans as Longoria, who has been married twice before, reportedly seemed to be happier than ever in recent months with sources claiming the actress was ready to take the next step with the philanthropist.

"They've started talking about tying the knot. They both really want to have kids together and want a big family," a source told In Touch magazine weeks before the pair split.

Longoria was recently photographed enjoying a vacation in Europe with Arguello and a source claimed they looked at wedding rings while in Paris.

"Things are going great. They might be the most cuddly couple I have ever seen," the insider said previously.

In July Longoria, who split from NFL star Mark Sanchez in 2012, confirmed reports of a romance with Arguello via social networking site Twitter.

"Happy to share NOW that it's true! Couldn't be happier…" Longoria previously tweeted, followed by a declaration of love from Arguello, "Me too baby, I LOVE YOU."

The actress also previously gushed about her newfound relationship in an interview with People magazine.

"I think that's why our relationship is so special – we truly started as friends," Longoria previously told People.

The award-winning actress previously doubted that she would ever have a third marriage, however Arguello is believed to have changed her views prior to their breakup.

"Eva just trusts Ernesto completely. She didn't trust men after her split from Tony [Parker in 2010], but Ernesto is such a good guy that he convinced her it was safe to trust again," the source explained.
