While others remembered Carter's faith, Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills took a different view, reflecting on the challenges of Carter's administration.

Calling Carter's death a "tragedy," Hibbs wrote on X, "One of the most failed presidencies in American history was under Jimmy Carter. Some of us still remember what it was like."

Hibbs criticized the policies of Carter's administration.

"Pro-abortionist and globalist Jimmy Carter meets his Maker — as we all will someday. Just remember God's pro-life and the inventor of it."

Hibbs' comments appeared to reference Carter's presidential positions on abortion, which he said he personally opposed but also opposed any legislative effort — including a constitutional amendment — to overturn Roe v. Wade
