Evangelical Lutheran Church to Host Global Mission Events
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will host three global mission programs in 2007 with an emphasis on how the U.S. church body can help Lutherans in missions worldwide.
The first event is the ELCA Global Mission Festival which will be held Jan. 26-28 in Florida. The following weekend an ELCA Global Mission Fiesta will take place Feb. 2-3 in Arizona.
Global Mission is looking to support congregations engaged in global mission at the grassroots level, said Sunitha Mortha, associate director for Global Mission Events and mission interpretation at ELCA Global Missions, in a statement.
Mortha said the two winter events are new. The smaller and shorter events are designed to focus on regional rather than national participation.
The traditional ELCA Global Mission Event will take place July 19-22 at Ohio State University.
